The Iranian Football Association have appointed Carlos Queiroz as their new manager. Former Portugal gaffer Queiroz takes over from Afshin Qotbi, whose contract was not extended following Iran’s exit in the last eight of the Asian Cup.
Queiroz has also served as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and has also coached Real Madrid. He led Portugal to the last sixteen of the 2010 World Cup, where they lost to eventual champions Spain.
