Italian midfielder Daniele De Rossi surprised the footballing world by wearing this weird jersey during the Azzurri’s opening game of Euro 2012 against Spain in Gdansk, Poland on June 10, 2012. Roma medio De Rossi, playing in defence for Italy, had one long sleeve and one short sleeve on his shirt that left many folks pondering the reason for this odd statement.

  1. Being an A.S. Roma fan, De Rossi does the same with his club kit or wears a training top matching Roma colors with one sleeve cut off under his jersey. I’m sure it is to conceal his arms where his numerous tattoos are. Both arms are covered where his jersey sleeves end. It must be a respect thing for he is Capitan Futuro and take the game more serious than most players today.

  3. The actual reason why De Rossi wears one long sleeve and one short sleeve is due to the fact that De Rossi’s best game was with roma and someone ripped of his sleeve so he decided to keep it like that for luck.

  4. The luck seemed to desert him yesterday. Might be time to change that. I only noticed it in the final, was he wearing the long/short combination the entire tournament?
