Man City defender Bacary Sagna has been fined £40,000 for his 10 v 12 comment on Instagram following Man City’s win over Burnley earlier this month. City had Fernandinho sent off by referee Lee Mason in that game and the French international, clearly unhappy with the performances of the man in the middle, took to photo sharing site Instagram to say “10 against 12” after the game.
He took down the post immediately, but this didn’t please the Association, who has claimed the 33 year old “questioned the integrity of the match official”
Mason’s fellow referee Mike Dean has however been demoted to the Championship for this weekend’s action and will be in charge of the whistle for Barnsley v Leeds.
