Shamrock Rovers do not want home games to be televised- ask RTE not to do so

In a somewhat unique case, League of Ireland club Shamrock Rovers have asked Irish broadcaste RTE not to telecast their home games. Rovers bosses claim that they are losing up to 10,000 euros per game, with fans preferring to watch the game on television rather than make their way to the ground.

League of Ireland members do not receive compensation of any sorts when their games are picked up for TV, and generally cannot say no if the broadcaster proposes to televise their games

RTE signed a deal with the FAI in August 2014 to show 78 live SSE Airtricity Premier Division and FAI Cup games till November 2018.

NetBet West Brom Sponsorship Deal, Crossbar Challenge at Southampton game- could Berahino return?

Last month, West Bromwich Albion signed a new one year betting deal with European giant NetBet, a first for the latter with a Premier League club. The deal will also see NetBet use stadium advertising and have its logo on the pitchside LED systems at the Hawthorns.

In this weekend’s league fixture against Southampton (12 September, 2015), Albion and NetBet will conduct a “Golden Crossbar Challenge” at half time, with £5000 available for grabs if you hit the crossbar. Apart from the Saints game, the challenge will also be conducted at two further matches- tentatively proposed to be the home games against Arsenal and Man Utd. Continue reading
