The draw for the last four of the Copa del Rey has been made and favourites Barcelona have been drawn against Valencia in their semifinal tie. The other last four clash pits underdogs Leganes against Sevilla. This is Barcelona’s eighth consecutive Copa semifinal (they’ve also made 7 of the last nine CDR finals)
Leganes and Barca will host the first legs of their respective semis- to be played on 31 Jan and 1 Feb, with the return legs taking place at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and the Mestalla on 7 and 8th Feb respectively.
Both the Madrid heavyweights are not present in the last four, with Leganes upsetting Real in the last eight and Sevilla knocking out Diego Simeone’s Atleti. Barcelona were taken the distance by local rivals Espanyol but did enough to book their spot in the semis (the second leg at the Nou Camp also saw Philippe Coutinho make his Barca debut as a second half replacement for the legendary Andres Iniesta)
