The van Gaal effect – It’s Already Alive And Kicking at Man Utd

So Louis van Gaal is only a few weeks into his reign at Old Trafford, but yet it appears the Dutchman is already well underway to transforming Manchester United’s fortunes.

The club arrived back in the UK on Tuesday after a pre-season tour of the US which saw them triumph in the Guinness International Champions Cup, beating the likes of Roma, Real Madrid, and Liverpool on their way to glory.

Under LVG, United have had the following results so far in pre-season

Man Utd 7-0 LA Galaxy
Man Utd 3-2 Roma
Man Utd 0-0 Inter (won 5-3 on penalties)
Man Utd 3-1 Real Madrid
Man Utd 3-1 Liverpool

It’s a stark contrast to LVG’s predecessor David Moyes’ first few weeks as boss, with the former Everton gaffer winning only two of his seven friendlies. The Premier League – the greatest league in the world, “the greatest show on earth”, if you go by one tagline. It attracts some of the best players in the world, and it makes them too.
