Young Giorgi Chakvetadze has been often been hailed as one of the rising stars of Georgian football and the teenager made his national team debut over the weekend against Lithuania (March 24, 2018). Chakvetadze started the game and also netted on debut- his 40th minute strike was the fourth for the Georgians in their 4-0 win in Tbilisi. He was replaced by Giorgi Aburjania after 69 minutes.

England U21 2-1 Romania U21 2018 | Demarai Gray captain for Young Lions at Molineux

Goals from Demarai Gray and Jake Clarke-Salter helped England U21 down their Romanian counterparts at Molineux. With Dominic Solanke taking a knock, manager Aidy Boothroyd chosen to give Birmingham born Gray the armband as a tribute to Cyrille Regis, the legendary striker in whose honour the game was held.

England took the lead through Gray’s 8th minute effort and doubled their advantage seventeen minutes from time when Jake Clarke-Salter nodded home from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner.

Romania, who had Gheorghe Hagi’s son Ianis in their lineup, pulled one back through Valentin Costache after an error from England keeper Dean Henderson. The visitors pushed for an equaliser but the home side held on to take the Cyrille Regis International 2-1.
